alden’s ice cream - product stop-motion

You’re a fool if you don’t scream for ice cream! There’s no better treat on a hot summer’s day.

I was beyond excited when Alden’s Ice Cream reached out to me about creating some catchy summer content for their organic ice cream treats!

Alden’s fun and action-oriented campaign header was “It’s ice cream season!” The goal was to showcase different ways to enjoy Alden’s Ice Cream all summer long and they wanted to focus on stop-motion content to bring those actions to life. Alden’s wanted to include a human element, some scrumptious flavor cues, and custom brand-color backgrounds were a must. They were so lovely to work with; incredibly detail oriented, but left room for creativity and collaboration.

During one of our pre-shoot meetings, we decided it would be nice to add a little texture to the custom-color backgrounds in order to add a little more interest. This one decision added an extra element of creativity to the photoshoot for me. These backgrounds have now become more of a set-building task, which means I get to reach into my proverbial tool belt and bring out the palette knife and spackle. Always a good time!

After a few layers of texture-building spackle, 24 hours of dry time and two coats of perfectly matched paint, we had ourselves some beautiful, custom backdrops all ready to bring Alden’s summery vision to life!

Another special part of this shoot was the flavor cues. All the fruit, beautiful vines and leaves came directly from my personal garden. How cool is it to be able to offer plump, fresh-off-the-vine (and sometimes the vine itself) berries, and oranges plucked straight from the tree mere moments before they goes on set? Talk about fresh!

I really love when I can call on my other stills or hobbies to enhance a photoshoot and provide so much more value for my clients. It shakes things up, adding variety to my days and it shows clients that I will go the extra mile to make their content unique, instilling confidence. What a wonderful combination!
