jacque mgido - makeup product photoshoot

Holy mother of color! Jacque Mgido really knows how to bring the pigment and that is what made this shoot so brilliant.

Jacque Mdigo has several product lines, but for this photoshoot we worked soley with their eyeshadow palette and lip stains. The focus was bold color. Jacque thoughtfully curated an eyeshadow color palette to be “the only eyeshadow palette you’ll ever need,” and a lip stain line that has a plethora of colors to explore. So, for this shoot, our goal was to showcase the abundance of color choices, highlight the rich pigmentation, and display the beautiful textures. The Jacque Mdigo team also wanted a few stop-motion videos to add some movement to their website.

I have to say, they really liked the stop-motion work. Here’s a screenshot showing just one of the ways they’ve incorporated the stop-motion work into their website:

With our vibrant goals set, it was most important for me to lean into my knowledge of color theory. Color theory is always important for a successful shoot, but because I was going to be shooting color, on color, on color, I REALLY had to be strategic about what colors I was going to be pairing together and question if all the colors would work together as a collection. With the exception of a white block here and there, no neutrals were incorporated into this shot (which is a great way to help give the eye a rest when dealing with a lot of color), so it becomes even more crucial to pair colors aesthetically. A tricky balancing act, but I think we were successful!

This shoot really helped solidified my love of working with color. There was a time when I was intimidated by working with an extended color palette, but this shoot pushed my boundaries, gave me confidence and opened up a world of possibilities which I continue to explore.
